Almost five years ago our school had the first two Austrian F1iS-Teams. Funnily, one of them was a Czech-Austrian-German collaboration team. The other one remained active. Two years later, this team's design engineer didn't have enough time anymore, so Jessica - their teammanager at the time - asked me if I wanted to take the place. I've had almost no experience with CAD-software, but said yes anyway, becoming a member of "the falcons".
At my first competition we placed sixth out of twelve. Happy with this result but knowing we could do better, we tried it again the following year and got the third place - and an invitation to the World Finals in Austin, Texas. After almost everyone told us we wouldn't be able to get enough money, we managed it either way. Being overwhelmed by the experience, I decided to try it one last time - with David and Patrick. We placed third once again at the German South-East-Championship, got invited to the WFs once again and, wanting a completely new experience, decided to collaborate with ST Racing.
In AC Racing, I'm the team manager, so I'm planning everything and doing coding and design for our website. But I've worked in almost every aspect of F1iS, like sponsoring, marketing, graphics design and engineering, so if necessary, I can help my teammates with their tasks.
I graduated from the BG/BRG Gmunden and this October I'll start studying Biomedical Engineering in Graz. When my freetime is not occupied with F1, I like to sail, juggle, read, binge-watch tv-series and volunteer at the Red Cross. My favourite book is "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams.
I joined the team last year, when two guys from the old "the falcons" team were searching for new members. They have already spoken about the World Finals and it seemed pretty interesing, so I joined. Unfortunately some team members left and we had to form a new team, in which were able to achieve the third place.
My job was graphic designer, so I made everything that had to do with graphics with the help of Florian. Now i am responsible for sponsoring and for keeping sponsors informed.
I'm 17 years old and will graduate from the BG BRG Gmunden next year. Some of my hobbies are playing tennis, designing and relaxing.
I got in touch with F1iS when two members from the falcons came in our class last fall and asked if there was somebody who is interested in technology and wants to be a member of the 2014 team.
I'm responsible for the pit-display, so I design it, build it and organise the transport to Abu Dhabi. My hobbies are sailing and playing the accordion. My favorite books are non-fiction books.
I became a member of ST Racing team in Autumn 2012, when Dominik Starý asked me if I want to try it with them. I worked as PR manager and we were very ambitious, but our work didn't have any good concept. We were quite sad when we ended at third place at National Championship 2013, but it was the first big step to the top. Next season I became team manager and put together the best possible team. Our work finally had the right concept and we worked from start of preparations with a clear goal and dreaming about the World Finals. I went to Czech National Championship 2014 for title of champions or for nothing and I was very happy when we absolutely destroyed the other teams and we became Czech champions!
But I was quite sad when I found out how difficult it would be to get our team to the World Finals. I started with finding new sponsors for our big dream, but many people said to me that it's impossible for us, but I still believed. The most important moment of this time was when Florian contacted me if we want to collaborate with the falcons. Everything looked so much easier after this moment and at the end of July we founded AC Racing and I started to work as design engineer.
After all this I believe we can be at the World Finals as good as we want, it's just in our hands!
And when I comes to saying something about myself, this year I finished studying at Secondary technical school Strakonice. My specialization was engineering and so I can work with CAD systems, mainly Autodesk Inventor and CAM systems, but not too much. From the last two years in Formula 1 in Schools I've got some experience with team promotion and team management.
My hobbies are sports (mainly floorbal), engineering, music (mainly punkrock), history and of course F1 in Schools.
I entered the team this year when the teammanager (Jan Narovec) asked me if I want to be in ST Racing team as a graphic designer. Next day, we had a meeting and I agreed with it because it was a challenge for me and I like to work with graphics. ST Racing team won the Czech Championship 2014 and now I'm a member of Austrian-Czech team.
I am responsible for team identity (logo, clothes, rules for team graphic), promotional items, etc. I'm 18 years old and I'm a student of Higher technical school, secondary technical school and school of crafts and services in Strakonice. My study field is named packaging technique.
My hobbies are photography, art, history, graphics and motorbikes. My favourite books are The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Makropulos Thing.
I became a member of the team after ST Racing team placed third in Czech National Finals last year (2013) and one of the members finished school. They looked for a new member and told me they would be glad if I became one of them because of my skills with CAD/CAMs systems. Of course I agreed, so here I am.
I am responsible for manufacturing our car. This includes milling of balsa-wood body, 3D printing of plastic parts (like wheels, wings, supporting systems), surface finishing, painting and completing (assembling) the car.
I'm 19 years old, graduated at high technical school in Strakonice (direction CNC technology and CAD) and will be studying Engineering at West Bohemian University. My hobbies include CAD (Inventor), football, rollerblading, table tennis and collecting autographs.
